Friends of Trione-Annadel State Park (FoTASP) was formed in September of 2017 by five members of the Santa Rosa community to provide a focal point for community fund-raising efforts to support the health and maintenance of Trione-Annadel State Park (TASP). Less than one month later, the Nunns fire swept through the park, creating an even more urgent need for trail and environmental work in the park.
Among local parks, Trione-Annadel has been unique in not having a foundation or organization committed to raising funds specifically to support the maintenance and protection of the park. Local and regional parks funding is not available to TASP -- the park is funded and operated by the California State Park System. State Park funding is constantly under pressure from the state budgeting process and state parks including Annadel have been forced to close several times in recent years due to funding shortfalls. While there are a number of wonderful volunteer organizations who contribute money and staffing to projects within the park, there has been no consistent source of funding to support the required level of necessary and urgent projects.
Friends of Trione-Annadel State Park is a 501(c)3 non-profit with the specific objective to work within Sonoma County to create a revenue stream to allow the development and implementation of maintenance projects within TASP that enhance the value and accessibility of the park to all citizens. All projects are planned and implemented in collaboration with park management. All members of the FoTASP board are volunteers, receiving no compensation for their efforts on behalf of the park they love.
